NEIL Shillingford insists Dudley Kingswinford have not given up on their promotion ambition in 2019.

DK will look to end a run of four straight losses when they host league leaders Bromsgrove at Heathbrook on Saturday, January 5 (2.15pm kick-off).

Those pre-Christmas defeats have seen them drop 15 points off the Boars and 14 off second-placed Newbold.

However, the director of rugby says his side are still capable of mounting a promotion push in a competitive Midlands One West.

He said: "It's good to get the Christmas and we can now have a few weeks off and regroup.

"We can recharge our batteries and start to get some of our players back from injury.

"We'll be treating it like a whole new season and just look to start a fresh in the new year.

"Looking at the long-term, we have more games at home than we do away and two of those at home will be Bromsgrove and Newbold, so we're not giving up on a play-off place just yet.

"We know it's going to be very tough now but this league has shown that anyone can slip up on any given week.

"If the teams at the top pick up a few injuries like we have then that suddenly makes things a lot harder.

"Our aim is still to get in that play-off position.

"If we can start well in the new year against Bromsgrove then suddenly we're just two results away from getting right back in there."
