KINGSWINFORD'S Danny Ball says preparations couldn't have gone better ahead of his Midlands title tilt this Friday (March 29).

The 22-year-old will do battle with Birmingham's Kaisee Benjamin for the welterweight crown on Tommy Owens Promotions' 'Night of Champions' show at Villa Park's Holte Suite.

Ball warmed up for his imminent title shot with a routine four-round victory over Jordan Grannum at Walsall Town Hall last month.

Now 8-0, he has Benjamin firmly in his sights as he looks to become the second member of his family to win an area title, with older brother Jamie a former holder at super-welter.

Ball is delighted with how well his preparations have gone ahead of the clash.

He said: "Camp has been great, to be fair.

"Ever since my last fight I've just stayed in the gym, kept going over Christmas and am as ready as I can be.

"I just want to get in there now and get the job done. Sparring and our gameplan has all worked out really well and I couldn't be happier.

"It is my first fight at welterweight but making weight is not an issue for me at all. I'm nearly there now already and hopefully the step down will really suit me.

"I'm quite tall for a welterweight but the speed and snap and power is all there.

"We have fought similar opponents so far and people are telling me he's a puncher but I can't see how he's going to be any stronger than me.

"I like to stay behind the jab and set things up but I'm not going to have qualms about standing and getting involved in a war with him.

"Hopefully a big win will open even more doors and set me further on my way but I won't be looking further than Friday. "
