TIVIDALE took another giant stride towards lifting the West Midland League title with a slender 1-0 win over next to bottom Wem Town.

In truth, Tivi made hard work of breaking down a stubborn Wem defence and had to wait until the stroke of half time when Matt Hunt made the breakthrough by netting from a Brad Welding corner.

The result leaves Tivi just one point clear of chasing Haughmond with both sides having only two games remaining.

It leaves Tivi - just like Manchester City - still chasing trophies on four fronts.

They were due to entertain local rivals Dudley Town on Wednesday night for a place in the League Cup Final where the winners will face Bewdley Town.

Tivi are already through to the Birmingham Midweek Cup Final when they take on Total Motion Midland League rivals Atherstone on Tuesday, April 23.

And Dave King's side are still going strong in the J W Hunt Cup with a trip to Midland League Premier side Sporting Khalsa set for April 30.

Cradley Town's recent charge up the West Midland League table was cut short with a 1-0 defeat at Hereford side Wellington.

The only goal arrived on 11 minutes when Mike Mullenger headed home from a Will Perkins free kick.

Dudley Sports are still in danger of finishing second from bottom after they were beaten 2-0 at home to fifth placed Wednesfield, while Black Country Rangers slide out of the top six continued when crashing 2-1 at home to AFC Bridgnorth.

Rangers host a crunch clash with Tividale this Saturday while Dudley Town take on Smethwick.

Dudley Sports set off for Hereford Lads Club while Cradley travel to Wem.

Bewdley Town attempt to boost their top six prospects this Saturday with a trip to Bridgnorth in the Severtn Valley derby.
