HALESOWEN Town have already started the search for a new manager for next season.

The Yeltz are on the brink of relegation from the Southern League Central after a disappointing campaign.

They are currently being guided through the final games by caretaker player/manager Lee Hughes and assistant Asa Charlton.

Hughes took over in March after Rob Smith and Larry Chambers failed to get Town to fire during the second half of the season.

That duo came in after long-term boss John Hill left in November.

Halesowen will be relegated if they fail to win against champions-elect Kettering Town this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Kettering will be crowned league winners with victory at the Grove. Yeltz will also go down should Lowestoft win at Hitchin.

Despite the drop all but confirmed, joint-chairman is determined to get the next appointment right as Hales look to bounce back next term.

He said: "We want to give ourselves as much time as possible and as many options as possible, it's as simple as that.

"It's been a poor year by our standards and we want to look at all the options that could be available to us.

"The next appointment is absolutely crucial and one that we have to get right.

"The fans deserve better than what they are getting and we'll be working hard to make that happen and make sure everything is in place.

"If we are to go down it certainly isn't a given that you just bounce back, look at Bromsgrove Sporting and the season they have had and they may have to go through the play-offs. It's a very competitive league.

"We need to get some momentum back again."

McKenna confirmed that Hughes and Charlton have been encouraged to apply, adding: "We have asked Lee and Asa to go away and plan what they'd do next season and they'll also be considered if they apply.

"They have very much been dropped in the deep end so we would listen to how they would like to do things from the start of the season."

Anyone interested in applying for the role is asked to send their CV and covering letter to McKenna at keith.mckenna@mtec-cg.com.
