CAPTAIN Greg Wright has called on his Himley players to bounce back from their "sluggish" showing at Halesowen.

Himley lost by eight wickets last Saturday as their record for the new Birmingham and District League Division Two season moved to two wins, two losses and one abandonment from their opening five games.

They now go to third-placed Oswestry this Saturday in need of a better showing.

Wright said: "The season's not really got going for us yet.

"We struggled on Saturday and looked like the previous week's break had an impact on us. We were sluggish and didn't bowl well enough.

"We started well despite losing the toss and had set it up nicely before losing some poor wickets.

"We just didn't bowl well after that and Halesowen were able to canter home on a drying pitch and didn't really need to get out of second gear.

"It was disappointing from our point of view and there is a long way to go for us to get to our best.

"It's been a surprise that we haven't bowled that well because we are a good bowling side and have the pedigree.

"There are some positives because we are really good in the field and there is a long way to go this season.

"Oswestry is going to be difficult again but we just need to worry about ourselves now and make sure we work hard and get back to basics and hopefully we can bounce back."
