HALESOWEN suffered as a result of superb seam bowling from Tom Russell and Gareth Williams as visitors Bromsgrove left Seth Somers Park with victory.

Russell (6 for 42) and Williams (3 for 29) plunged Hales into disarray last Saturday.

The hosts went from 4-4 to 17-5 and then 49-9 nine before a last wicket stand of 22 took them to 71 all out in 27.1 overs.

It took Bromsgrove 11.1 overs to chase down their target for the loss of two wickets after Jayden Levitt had given them a flying start with 27 from 19 balls. Halesowen remain fourth from bottom in the Birmingham and District League Division Two.

The second team were also mauled by Bromsgrove seconds at St Godwald's Park. Bromsgrove took to the Halesowen bowling with some gusto smashing 346 in their 50 overs only for Hales to be 61 all out in reply.

Similarly the third XI were crushed by Romsley 1st XI in Hunnington. Batting first they were only able to manage 58 all out with a very young side and Romsley passed the target in just 11 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.

The fourth team clambered to victory thanks to the efforts of stalwart Vinny O’Grady (73*) and Ben Dunn (51) as they beat Harborne fourths in a tense last over finish.

Halesowen will look for a reaction when they go to Harborne this Saturday.

The seconds welcome Kidderminster seconds, the thirds host Eastnor seconds at Earls and the fourth XI take on Harborne thirds.
