CRADLEY Town are seeking a new manager this week after Chris Butts stepped down following the Hammers' 3-0 defeat to Worcester Raiders - a result which leaves them bottom of the West Midlands League Premier Division.
Surprised Cradley chairman Trevor Thomas confirmed: "Nobody at the club knew he had resigned. He never spoke to me about it after the game with Worcester Raiders.
"The first I knew about Chris leaving was through a third party who told me Chris had put something on social media.
"Chris had been in charge for 16 months and I admit results haven't been going well with just one win in nine games.
"But off the park, the club is in the best position I have ever known it to be and we were still prepared to work with Chris, but he has clearly decided he can't offer anymore.
"We will train as usual this week and will be advertising the position."
Butts announced his departure in a series of tweets which appear to show he felt his position was being undermined.
I’m disappointed that I left 8 weeks too late and should of stuck to my principles of picking my own team and not let people above come in through pre season and into the season dictating the team.
