DUDLEY Kingswinford will look to cement their place at the top of Midlands One West when they hosts rivals Old Halesonians this Saturday.

DK went back top of the table after overcoming Newbold 13-8 away from home last weekend.

Kenilworth slipped up at Lichfield to let DK leapfrog them in the league.

Old Hales go into the derby clash on the back of a 20-19 win over Droitwich at Wassell Grove.

DK director of rugby Neil Shillingford said: "Looking at the weather, the game was as we predicted it would be and we selected to suit and got our selection right.

"We beefed up the bench so we could go more direct when we needed to and that helped us grind out a really good away win.

"Both sides nullified each other for large parts of the game and the ref also nullified things with a few really poor decisions for both teams.

"We turned down a few early penalties as we went chasing that bonus point but eventually kicked one and got a score ahead and managed the game really well."

DK now face a crucial fortnight as they look to pull away from the pack.

This Saturday's visit of Old Hales will be followed by a trip to second-placed side Stoke a week later.
