Old Halesonians return to winning ways beating Kidderminster at home on President’s Day.

On a cold and sunny day at The Grove, Old Hales started strongly attacking the visiting side relentlessly and after 2 minutes of the continued phases of play.

Full Back Andy Holloway went over the line for the first score of the game, conversion was missed to make the score 5-0.

Kidderminster slowly started getting into their stride putting Old Hales under pressure resulting in a few penalties being conceded by the home side and Kidderminster kicking a penalty to make the score 5 - 3.

Old Hales then responded with continuing attacking play but could not break down the resilient Kidderminster defence.

The visiting side controlled the end of the first half putting a lot of pressure in Old Hales 22.

This resulted in another penalty against Old Hales.  Kidderminster kicked to the corner and from the resulting line out drove over the line to score a try which was converted making the half time score 5 - 10.

Old Hales came out for the second half with their heads up and started to put Kidderminster under a lot of pressure resulting in total dominance of scrums and breakdowns.

From one scrum, Old Hales drove Kidderminster back and #8 Loz Breese scored a try which Luke Fenton converted to make the score 12 - 10.
Old Hales continued to dominate in their half with excellent attacking play.

This led to debutant Scrum Half, Jacob Ham scoring under the posts, again converted by Fenton to make the score 19 - 10.

With the light diminishing, one final play by Old Hales resulted in second row Dan Smith scoring a crucial try to get the bonus point, again successfully converted by Fenton to make the final score 26 - 10.

Head Coach James Angove said “This was a must win game for us, following several defeats.
“This will add confidence to the boys and with a few injured players back available for next week’s fixture at Ludlow, we are in a positive place.”
