A new team formation worked wonders for top tier outfit Trysull Tigers as they moved third in the Beacon Sunday league this week.

Tigers boss Steve Hussey went for a 4-5-1 line up against visiting title contenders Sedgley and Gornal United and Trysull were celebrating a memorable 2-0 success on the final whistle, writes Dave McLean.

After a tightly contested goalless first half it was the Tigers who broke the deadlock with second half efforts from Steve Rickhuss and Jack Pitchford.

United, who had only lost one previous league game this season, hit back strongly but the Trysull defence held firm with keeper Jimmy Harris having an outstanding game as his side took the honours and moved within two points of second place Shere Punjab Wolves.

In the Paycare Development Division there was a full league programme and unbeaten leaders CTS United got back to winning ways after being held by Essington the previous weekend.

United entertained another of their nearest rivals Wyrley Athletico and ran out 5-1 victors with Jack Kelly notching a hat trick. Alex Clarke and Jack Gould also netted for United who made it 12 wins in 13. Tom Drury replied for Wyrley.

Eleven points adrift in second spot are AFC Sporting Gornal who ran out worthy 6-1 winners over visiting Penn Rovers with Owen Harris bagging three, Jordan Robinson (two) and Stuart Brown. Best in response was Matthew Frost.

Third place Sedgley Rangers ran riot, crushing basement outfit Coseley FC 13-1 with three goal Dan Pritchard leading the spree. He received good support from Connor Hogan and Reece Frendo who fired doubles.

Sedgley's scoring was rounded off by Luke Jones, Joe Waterfield, Brad Ormerod, Joe Killeen, Ashley Sadlier and an own goal, with Tim Bellingham netting Coseley's consolation.

FC Premier 2014 remain fifth on goal difference after running out 7-2 winners against visiting Cannock United.

Premier had their latest game won by half time after racing into a 6-0 lead. There were doubles from Jermelle Banner, Javad Hashemi and Jamie Priddey with Ugo Iroegbunam adding a seventh. Charlie Saunders hit both Cannock goals.

Sixth place Dudley Rangers kept up their promotion bid with a high scoring 6-4 success over Health Direct. It was the formers' seventh league triumph.

Essington AFC made it one league defeat in eleven as they pulled off a 4-2 away win at Gornal Rangers with three goal Lee Hickingbottom inflicting most damage. Curtis Tonks also scored for Essington, with Jordan Bernard and Tahi Markland replying.
