OLD Hill have regained their Birmingham League status but not before suffering a setback in their play -off programme.
Having already beaten Shropshire champions Wellington the previous weekend - Old Hill had a spanner thrown into the works when they lost to Staffordshire winners Milford Hall by 17 runs.
After inserting Milford Hall, who are the reigning National Village champions, into bat first, the Staffordshire side posted a competitive 198 all out.
The Hill fell short in reply when reduced to 181 all out.
It meant the Hill had to beat Warwickshire winners Olton and West Warwicks in their final fixture to gain promotion.
Olton were invited to bat first and found themselves restricted to 165 for nine from a reduced 42 overs.
Old Hill made light of their reply, romping to a winning 166 for four with 10 overs to spare.
Waqas Ahmed led the way with a match-winning innings of 79 from 73 balls, his total included 10 fours and a six.
Wicketkeeper Suhayl Iqbal backed him up with a further 38 despite the efforts of Olton's Jade Richter who finished with bowling figures of three for 36.
It means Old Hill and Wellington are promoted to Birmingham League Premier Two replacing relegated sides Bromsgrove and Lichfield while Olton and Milford Hall miss out.
