DUDLEY Town will travel to last year’s champions AFC Wulfrunians when they kick-off the West Midlands Premier season next Saturday August 8.

The Robins finished last season in fifth position and the game gives them an early chance to assert their title ambitions.

It is followed by a trip to rivals Tividale on Wednesday August 12.

Town’s 100 per cent pre-season record was brought to an end as they were beaten 4-2 by Daventry Town on Saturday.

Town went behind early thanks to a Tom Berwick penalty but got back on level terms when Marvin Nisbett tapped in after Mensah Kinch’s shot had been parried.

Danny Nelson and a second strike from Berwick then put the home side 3-1 up, before substitute Neil Lazarus added a fourth.

John Charters added a late consolation for the Robins.

The loss followed a 3-1 victory over Cadbury Athletic last Wednesday and Town now play Warley Development in their final pre-season fisxture this Saturday (3pm).

Dudley Sports start their campaign with a home game against Oldbury Athletic, who moved from the Midlands Combination during the summer.

This is followed by a trip to Goodrich on Tuesday August 11 before an FA Cup extra prelinary round clash with Southam United at High Ercal Avenue on Saturday August 15.

The first derby of the season between the Robins and the Piemen takes place on Monday August 31 (3pm).

Sports continiued their pre-season programme with a thrilling game at Wem Town, which they narrowly lost 4-3. They were due to face Black Country Rangers at Tividale last night (7.45pm) before travelling to Smethwick Rangers on Saturday (3pm).

Tividale get their season underway with a home game against Bromyard, before the clash with Town.

A single goal was enough to five Tividale victorious against Wombourne on Saturday. They now play Black Country Rangers on Thursday (7.45pm) before a trip to Bartley Green on Saturday (3pm).

Gornal Athletic will get their season underway with two home games. First they host Ledbury Town on August 8 (3pm), before a clash with Ellesmere Rangers on Tuesday August 11 (7.45pm).

Lye Town start their campaign with a trip to Ellesmere Rangers on August 8 (3pm), before heading to Ledbury Town on Wednesday August 12 (7.45pm).
