TEN man Dudley Sports saw their FA Cup run brought to an end despite a battling display at Butlin Road.

Sports were always up against it from the moment captain Delroy Gordon gave the home side an early lead on eight minutes.

David Kolodynski made it two before half time, while second half goals from Matt Gearing, Jason Ramsey, Harry Donaghey and a second for Gordon completed the rout. Kalum Evitts had Sports best chance and Stephen Bull was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Kolodynski.

The scale of the task facing Sports was made clear as early as the second minute, with Gearing running unchallenged for nearly 50 yards before unleashing a shot from just outside the box which crept past the post.

Six minutes later the home side were in front, as Sports failed to adequately clear a corner.

Ramsey had already had a couple of swings at the loose ball before it fell to Gordon, the skipper drilling a low shot just inside the near post.

Liam Nicell nearly doubled the lead straight away but saw his shot saved by Matt Sidaway, before Gearing sent another effort just off target.

Ramsey then chipped an effort just wide of the far post after holding off the attentions of Nathan Kirby.

Steve Purton was the next Rugby player to narrowly miss the target from distance, Kolodynski then repeated the trick from closer range.

Gordon headed just wide from a corner, before Gearing once more tried his luck from distance and once more was just off target.

Ramsey then sent Sidaway scrambling to push behind a snap shot, from the resulting corner Gordon saw his header cleared off the line by Lee Dimmock.

Chris Rabone had Sports first shot of the game which was easily collected by home keeper Andrew Stevens, while Sidaway was again forced into action as Gearing finally got one on target.

The second goal, when it finally arrived on 37 minutes, was again the result of Sports failing to clear from a corner.

Full back Nicell collected a loose ball and crossed to the far post, where Gordon rose unchallenged to send a header back across goal to give Kolodynski the easiest of finishes.

Sports were struggling to get the ball out of their own half but nearly pulled a goal back in stoppage time in bizarre circumstances, Stevens being forced to make a scrambling save after defender and assistant boss Craig Herbert deflected Kirby’s cross toward goal.

Sports bosses Tony Gore rang the changes at half-time, with Harry Hambleton replacing Kirby to form a three man attack with Evitts and Rabone.

The move nearly paid instant dividends as Rabone cross for Evitts but the striker rushed his effort, shooting weakly at Stevens from close range.

The visitors were enjoying their best spell and got another sight of goal when Hambleton’s cross picked out Rabone, only for the striker to misdirect his header wide.

Tempers threatened to boil over in the home defence, with Herbert and Nicell having to be separated by team mates after an exchange of words.

Sports were holding firm but any hope of getting back into the game disappeared on 64 minutes with Bull’s dismissal for scything down Kolyodynski.

Referee Nick Hobbis wasted no time in reaching for his back pocket and while Bull and his team mates complained, it looked a poor challenge.

Five minutes later Town grabbed their third as Gearing finished off a flowing move by shooting low past Sidaway.

Normal service was resumed as the midfielder then shot wide for the umpteenth time, before Ramsey made it four, prodding home substitute Donaghey’s low centre.

The hosts were rampant and a fifth goal arrived in the 88th minute, Donaghey drilling home after good work by Ramsey.

The midfielder then completed an excellent cameo by crossing for Gordon to make it six in stoppage time.
