DUDLEY’s Darren McDermott is likely to face one of his old rivals if he can get back into contention for a shot at the British middleweight title.

The Black Country Bodysnatcher will put himself in pole position for a new title chance if he makes a successful defence of his English crown against Danny Butler in Stoke on November 13.

Then he can sit back and watch the British title showdown between Wayne Elcock and Darren Barker who will meet for the vacant title on November 28.

Elcock beat McDermott on a cut eye decision in their British title fight last year.

Barker then stopped McDermott in four rounds earlier this year in a fight for the Commonwealth title that also doubled as a British title eliminator.

Victory for McDermott against Butler will put him in sight of a revenge mission against either Elcock or Barker.

But he knows that could all disappear if he slips up against Butler.

McDermott said: “I know what is at stake in this fight. I have got to win and will be giving it my all to make sure that I do so I can get back into British title contention again.”
