Dudley Knights 1, Kynoch 2.
COMEBACK kid Ed Parkes went into Knights folklore by scoring the club’s first league goal just days after suffering a worrying injury.
The 24-year-old striker was back on his feet after being knocked unconscious for 10 minutes the previous week. But there was no slowing the young man down as he wrote himself into the club’s record books at Earl’s High School, Halesowen, on Saturday.
Knights put on early pressure and had chances, but went into the second half a goal behind.
Knoch pressure brought a second goal on 55 minutes but the battling Reds hit back minutes later when Sol Buckner fed Parkes whose shot deflected off a defender’s stick.
Despite piling forward the Knights couldn’t find the equaliser.
Buckner said: “We’ve got the first goal monkey off our back. We played our best hockey so far and deserved something out of it.”
l The Knights visit fellow basement battlers Oswestry this Saturday and then play Barlaston at The Dell stadium on Sunday, 1pm push-back.
