RAJAT Bhatia was the star as Himley enjoyed an excellent start to the Black Country Floodlit Twenty20 tournament.
The IPL star hit a half century and then took two wickets as the hosts enjoyed an 86 run opening night win over last year’s winners Wolverhampton.
Nathan Round also scored 46 in Himley’s total of 167 in 15 overs, before Wolves made just 81 in reply.
But the most thrilling action of the night came in the second game, as Brewood’s Chris Pearce cracked 14 off the final three balls to help his side to a seven wicket win over Stourbridge.
Pearce finished unbeaten on 69 as Brewood edged past Stour’s total of 110-7.
The action continues tonight when Himley face Stourbridge (5.30pm), before Wolverhampton take on Brewood (7.40pm).
