DUDLEY Sports’ demolition of Dudley Town at the Dell Stadium on Saturday ranked alongside their best performances of the season according to joint boss Tony Gore.

Sports ran out 3-0 winners away at the Robins in the much-anticipated West Midlands Premier Division clash.

On the scoresheet were the returning Harry Hambleton (2) and Chris Rabone.

Joint managers Paul Blakeley and Gore were delighted with the way their team bounced back from the disappointment of losing a Birmingham Midweek Floodlit Cup semi-final at home to Darlaston Town 4-0 last Tuesday.

Gore said: “We’ve had some very good wins this season against the likes of Bewdley, Bloxwich United and AFC Wulfs but the performance against Dudley on Saturday was better than any of them and probably on par with our showing away at Gornal.

“It was even more pleasing that we put in such a good all-round performance considering the disappointment of Tuesday night.

“It was a great result when you look at the way Dudley have been flying this season and we always knew it was going to be a tough fixture.

“We started the game really well and the 3-0 scoreline was a fair reflection of the game.

“We took control from the start and dominated for long periods and limited Dudley to a couple of long-range efforts all game.

“It really was a complete team effort from the boys.”

The victory puts the Hillcrest Avenue side in touching distance of the top ten.

Gore added:” It’s been a remarkable turnaround in the last six weeks because we have gone from looking over our shoulders at the relegation zone to keeping an eye on the teams in the top ten.

“We still have a large chunk of the season to play and our aim is now to keep picking up points and putting in performances like we did on Saturday and see where we finish up, because we feel like we are progressing nicely at the moment.”

Sports will welcome Heath Town Rangers to Hillcrest Avenue on Saturday before hosting Ledbury Town on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

This Saturday Neil Perks’ men will travel to Shawbury United (3pm kick-off), before heading off to Goodrich on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

This Saturday they will travel to Bromyard Town (3pm kick-off) before hosting local rivals Lye Town at the Garden Walk Stadium next Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).
