A MARRIED couple from a village near Stourbridge were counting their lucky stars after walking away from this plane crash unscathed.

Pilot Alan Radcliffe and his wife Pamela’s miraculous escape happened on Sunday lunchtime in Alderney as they were flying back from the Channel Islands to Sleap Airfield in Shropshire.

A fellow passenger, Katie Farrell from Enville near Stourbridge, was flown to Guernsey for treatment for a broken leg and another man from Jersey on the plane was uninjured.

Speaking after the crash - the 59-year-old pilot from Six Ashes said: “We’ve got bumps and bruises but are fine. “We were lucky to find somewhere to put the plane down.

“I do not want to go into details about the cause but I am pleased we all managed to get out in one piece.”

The UK Air Accidents Investigations Branch have announced they are investigating the crash - which is believed to have happened when the engine stalled on approach to Alderney airport.
