DK's duly relegated as depressing run of results continues to haunt them

Dudley Kingswinford 0, Birmingham and Solihull 36

DUDLEY Kingswinford extended their depressing run of results to 24 straight defeats this season and effectively relegated themselves from National League rugby in the process - writes nick pullen

Saddled with a yellow card to flanker Matt Squires within just 90 seconds of the kick-off, the DK's were immediately on the backfoot against a Bees side who still believe they can obtain a top four finish.

With DK's down to 14 players, Bees were quick to take advantage, running in two tries from fly half Adam Canning who raced over half the length of the pitch to score, while winger Chris Fensome snapped up a second try on the overlap.

Canning ran even further on the half hour, intercepting a wayward DK's pass on his own 22 to race over under the posts.

Right on the stroke of half time, Bees fly half Rod Petty spotted a gap in DK's defence and scampered over by the posts.

Canning converted three of the tries to put Bees out of sight by half time with a 26-0 lead.

The DK's enjoyed plenty of possession in the second half - but that was helped by the fact Bees were reduced to 13 having flanker Ashley Scriven and No.8 Steve Leach sent to the sin bin.

Despite their numerical advantage, DK's still failed to register a score.

Play was pretty even up front, but DK's lacked cutting edge in the backs - it's been the same story all season.

Fully replenished to 15, Bees finished the stronger side with second row Chris Goddard helping himself to a couple of tries after being propelled over the try-line by driving mauls.

The DK's reckon they'll now have a new Director of Rugby in place within a fortnight as more interviews need to take place.

Whoever is appointed can't arrive a moment too soon!
