After the incredible success and heartfelt feedback from last year, we’re thrilled to announce the return of the Dudley Borough Community Awards — proudly brought to you by the Dudley News, Halesowen News, and Stourbridge News.

These awards are all about celebrating the inspiring people, stories, and organisations that make our borough such a vibrant and special place. It’s your chance to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes and changemakers making a real difference in our communities.


Know someone who deserves recognition? Whether it's a dedicated volunteer, a standout local business, a youth leader, or a community group doing amazing work — we want to hear their story!

Date: Thursday, 3rd December 2026
Time: 7:00 PM
Venue: The Copthorne Hotel, Dudley
Finalists and a guest will be invited to join us for a wonderful evening of celebration, including pre-arrival drinks and a delicious dinner.

Nomination Deadline: Sunday, 27th September 2026.
ALL FINALISTS WILL BE NOTIFIED WEEK COMMENCING 12th OCTOBER.

Business of the Year

Are you a well-established Dudley business which has gone from strength to strength? This award is all about honouring those firms who have made a difference to the area’s economy.


New Business of the Year

Sponsored by: S&R Construction

Have you built a successful new business in the last 18 months? Well, if so, we want to hear from you. This category is about championing those individuals and organisations who have invested in the area. You must have started your business in the Dudley area on or after January 2024.


Independent Business of the Year

Sponsored by: -

We are looking for an independent business large or small who has really made an impact in the Dudley area. This could be an independent retailer, service business or other type of business.


Best Customer Service

Sponsored by: -

Ensuring clients return time and again is so important for a business and this award is about finding that one firm which really goes the extra mile for customers. We want to hear from businesses whether that is large companies or small shops who are proud of their service.


Best Community Project or Group

Sponsored by: Halesowen College

This award will honour a project or group which is making a difference to a community from a neighbourhood partnership to a youth group or pensioners’ club.


Volunteer or Fundraiser of the Year

This award is for those people who give up their time to volunteer for a charity, a cause or to help others and for those who raise lots of money for charities and those in need. Tell us about why they should win this award.


Sports Team, Club or Personality of the Year

Sport is so important in the Dudley area and we know there are plenty of community sports teams and clubs. This award is about celebrating teams, clubs and the people who volunteer and coach within them.


Teacher of the Year

Sponsored by: University of Worcester

Is your child’s teacher the best in the Dudley area? Has a college lecturer or trainer inspired a student to go on to fulfil their dreams? We want to reward the hard work of our education workers and trainers who have gone the extra mile for their pupils.


Environmental Project of the Year

Sponsored by: Dudley College

Championing green issues is not just about saving the planet. We want to hear about environmental projects that endeavour to make the world around them a better place. This could be a recycling project, a team who has cleared up a grot spot or who saved an open space from development.


Mental Health Hero or Team

Sponsored by: -

This award recognises an outstanding individual or team—such as a carer, nurse, doctor, organisation or specialist service—working within mental health care. With mental wellbeing now understood as a cornerstone of overall health, we want to celebrate those who make a meaningful difference. We welcome nominations that show how their care, support, and commitment have improved the lives of individuals and their families.


Diversity in the Community Award

This award is for people who champion diversity in the community. They help to tackle the issues in today’s society. This person has devoted their time to enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion; and has embraced all our citizens irrespective of race, faith, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability and culture.


Care Hero of the Year

This award recognises that all those work in care, who make a difference to people’s lives every day. Do you know a someone working in care who has worked hard to enable someone to live an independent, safe and fulfilled life? Have they helped to change someone’s life for the better? It is these everyday stories about how our care workers make a difference (big or small) that the judges want to hear.


Healthcare Worker of the Year

This award recognises that all those work in healthcare, who make a difference to people’s lives every day. Do you know a someone working in healthcare (for example a dentist, nurse, optician, audiologist, GP, care worker or similar) who has worked hard to enable someone to live an independent, safe and fulfilled life? Have they helped to change someone’s life for the better? It is these everyday stories about how our healthcare workers make a difference (big or small) that the judges want to hear.
