ONE of the biggest names in British rock has been in Stourbridge for a Base Sessions chat about unique UK gigs.

Rick Wakeman is planning just four UK shows this year, two on Saturday June 15 at historic Blackfriers in Gloucester and a further two at the Centaur in Cheltenham on June 16 and 17.

The Gloucester shows will feature Rick on stage with three of his children, who are all accomplished musicians in their own right.

The Cheltenham gigs are billed as the Ultimate Wakeman Experience, where the former Yes keyboard maestro and his band, along with a full orchestra, will play extracts from his best-known albums.

Rick called at Base Studios in Stourbridge for a video feature with the Base Sessions team about the shows and a host of other subjects - including how a stolen KGB uniform helped launch his successful TV career.
