A NEW TV series written by Dudley’s Sir Lenny Henry puts the spotlight on those who travelled from Jamaica to make a new life in Britain.

Set in 1957, post-Windrush, Three Little Birds follows sisters Leah (Rochelle Neil) and Chantrelle (Saffron Coomber) and their bible-loving acquaintance Hosanna (Yazmin Belo) as they seek new opportunities in Blighty.

Lured to the UK in search of new beginnings, they all have different reasons for leaving family and friends behind in Jamaica, and the series follows their ups and downs as they try to build a new life.

The six-part drama series, filmed in the Midlands and written and executive produced by Sir Lenny, was inspired by the stories of the comedian’s mother and others who transitioned to life in the UK.

Produced by Tiger Aspect in association with Sir Lenny’s Douglas Road Productions, the show will premiere on ITV1 on Sunday October 22 at 8pm and be available for streaming on ITVX.
