A FOURTH man has been arrested in connection to the murder of a man in Edgbaston last month.

Raad Asmael was shot inside a car on Rotton Park Road at the junction with City Road shortly before 11pm on November 22.

The 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, along with two other men, aged 25 and 31, who were held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The three men have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Yesterday, December 16, West Midlands Police arrested a fourth man aged 21 on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

In a statement about yesterday’s arrest, Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison from West Midlands Police said: “Our investigation continues to progress, and we have kept Raad's family up to date with the news of the arrests.

"It is still really important that we hear from anyone with information about what might have happened or why.

"We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who may have dashcam footage."

In the days after his death, Raad’s family paid tribute to him, saying: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to him we shall return.

“Our beloved husband, son, father and brother.”

West Midlands Police are urging anyone with information that could aid their investigation to contact them via the live chat on their website or by calling 101, quoting log 5228 of 22 November.

Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
