A West Midlands-based car part distribution company added some cheer to their usual route, travelling 100km to use Google Maps to draw a familiar festive face.
A fleet of vans from GFS Car Parts meticulously planned a 62-mile route to draw Santa’s face using the street of the West Midlands.
As well as having some festive fun, the fleet still managed to incorporate their scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs from their Birmingham East branch to garage partners around the area.
The journey took a full working day, with drivers beginning and ending near Summerfield Park in Birmingham, passing Birmingham landmarks including Edgbaston Stadium, the Wildlife Conservation Park and the National Sealife Centre.
Steve Horne, CEO of GSF Car Parts, said: “We’re proud to be based in the West Midlands, and when one of the team had the idea to recreate a festive GPS route as art - well, given we have more than 1,250 delivery vehicles on the road every single day delivering parts from our branches to our garage partners, we thought we’d have fun with it.
“One of our team was able to design a route around Birmingham that also incorporated car part drop-offs for one of our drivers, and we thought it might make people smile as we speed towards Christmas Day itself!”
As well as to put people in the holiday spirit, the festive creation was also to celebrate the recent opening of GSF’s new national distribution centre in Wolverhampton.
The facility opened at the start of December, creating over 400 jobs for people across the West Midlands and will serve as the company’s central logistics hub, modernising GSF’s supply chain infrastructure and streamlining delivery processes into its 194-strong national branch network.
Speaking on the national distribution centre’s opening, Mr Horne added: "The NDC will ensure branches have more products on the shelf and will remove lots of time-consuming processes so our network can focus on serving the customer.
“It is the flagship of a broader investment programme that’s transforming GSF Car Parts at every level.
“The NDC doesn’t just enable us to serve customers better, it also creates a host of jobs across the West Midlands and beyond, reflecting our commitment to invest in the growth and success of our branch teams.
“Our goal is clear: to become the easiest business to trade within the UK aftermarket.”
