A SUSPECTED drugs lab has been uncovered near a Birmingham railway station, causing travel disruption this morning.

West Midlands Police said it is investigating after officers discovered a suspected drugs lab under the railway arches near Aston Railway Station.

The force said it was altered by members of the public to the set up off Thimble Mill Lane, Aston at around 6.10am this morning (February 4).

Officers recovered drugs manufacturing equipment and a quantity of chemicals are now being tested by fire service colleagues.

The force said a cordon will remain in place while enquiries continue.

It comes as the Cross City North line faced disruption between Birmingham New Street and Sutton Coldfield earlier today.

Taking to social media site X, West Midlands Railway said due to emergency service dealing with an incident, trains were unable to run between the two stations.

The service has since started running again, with the train operator warning of possible delays and cancellations.

Anyone with any information about the suspected drugs lab is asked to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat on its website or by calling 101, quoting 472 of 4 Feb.
