FAMILIES can enjoy free fishing events this Easter.
The Canal and River Trust is hosting free events across the West Midlands during the school holidays, as part of its Let's Fish initiative.
The events are part of the UK's most popular angling programme, offering people the chance to try fishing.
The Let's Fish programme consists of hundreds of introductory events across England and Wales.
With the support of local angling clubs and funds from the People's Postcode Lottery, all participants receive one-to-one tuition from qualified coaches.
The events are open to anyone aged six and above, whether they're new to fishing or returning after a break.
John Ellis, head of fisheries and angling at the Canal and River Trust, said: "Our Let's Fish events are a great way to get the relaxing benefits of spending time by the water – and sometimes the added excitement of catching your first fish.
"They give everyone the chance to have a go, regardless of background or ability, with all the equipment provided.
"We’ve got plenty of activities taking place across the West Midlands this Easter and, with a summer of events lined up, it’s the perfect time to get involved."
The Canal and River Trust encourages all Let's Fish participants to experience fishing alongside others of similar age groups at club or academy events.
Many then decide to participate in local Daiwa regional celebrations throughout the summer.
The Let's Fish programme was introduced in 2016, and around 25,000 people have taken part, filling nearly 50,000 slots, since its inception.
For details of this year’s current event programme, visit the Let's Fish section of the Canal and River Trust website.
To manage numbers on site, participants are required to book their place in advance.
Let's Fish events range from free to £5 per session.
