THE TEAM behind a Kingswinford-based company has said they were “completely taken aback” to hear their brand mentioned on the podcast of an Emmy-winning US late night TV show host.
Stiltz, a company that specialises in installing home lifts, found itself the topic of conversation during the most recent episode of Conan O’Brien’s podcast.
The presenter and comedian, best known for hosting his network talk show 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien', said the Stiltz lifts “look very Star Trek” and enthused about the idea of getting one for his broadcast studios.
During the podcast, which began streaming on Monday (October 13), O’Brien said: “I’ve never wanted anything this badly.
“I’ve got to have it and will spare no expense!”
What started out for O’Brien as a conversation with his production team about birthday present ideas turned into a surreal morning for the Stiltz team over on this side of the Atlantic.

We were completely taken aback," said Yola Mealing, Head of Brand and Marketing Communications at Stiltz. "None of us had a clue it was being broadcast, and to be fair, it comes across as very spontaneous on the recording.
“We were alerted to it by someone putting it on one on Instagram posts!
“Some of the younger guys in the team were seriously impressed by both the amount of coverage it received, and by the fact it was THE Conan O’Brien."
The mention of the company, which is based in the Pensnett Trading Estate, was completely organic, with O’Brien saying: “I’m not doing an ad for them because I wish their name was Slifts.”
Mike Lord, CEO of Stiltz, said: “It’s thrilling for a huge American star to have noticed our products.
“He clearly has excellent taste and we’d love to supply him with any of our models.”
Since 2018, the ‘Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend’ podcast has been streaming to millions across the globe and sees the entertainer chat to a celebrity guest for each hour-long episode.
After the laughter and intrigue around Stiltz and watching the animations of the lifts on the company’s website, O’Brien sits down to chat with Australian actor Rose Byrne in this episode.
