ALE lovers from across the borough are descending on Dudley Town Hall for the annual Winter Ale Fayre.

The Dudley Winter Ales Fayre returns is currently underway at Dudley Town Hall, with warming tipples easing the chill of November.

This year's festival is featuring more than 70 real ales and ciders, with beers from breweries across the Black Country and Staffordshire.

They include winter favourites like Sarah Hughes Snowflake, Batham's XXX and Enville Blizzard.

There will also be a selection from the East and West of the country.

It is organised by the Dudley and South Staffordshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), with free entry still available for the final day of the festival tomorrow (November 29).

Chairman of the Dudley and South Staffordshire CAMRA branch, John Corser, said this year's fayre has a focus on getting the mission of CAMRA to capture the interests of young people across the region.

He said: "The branch will be focusing on recruiting young members this year, and a special offer for new members will be available at the festival."

With the festival well into its second day, the Champion Beers of the Festival have been crowned, with award-winning Sarah Hughes's Snowflake taking the gold.

In silver was Fuller's Vintage, with Kinver's Full Centurion taking the bronze.

As well as celebrating all things brewing, there will be a charity raffle running at the festival, with one of the items featured being the first bottle of beer brewed by Sarah Hughes Brewery in Sedgley.

All proceeds will be going to Action Heart in Dudley.

Mr Corser added: "The commemorative festival glasses will feature a logo celebrating the 200th anniversary of Grade II listed Priory Hall in Dudley and the Black Country's proud history of boxing, including the Tipton Slasher.

"Batham's Brewery in Brierley Hill is sponsoring the glasses, which will be on sale for £3.50."

Tickets are avalible on the door for the remainder of the second day of the festival today (November 28), with free entry for both CAMRA members and non-members tomorrow from 11am until 8pm.
