A MOTHER and son from Dudley are celebrating a double victory at a prestigious European film festival.

Film stars Rita Jagpal-Mohan and her 11-year-old son Reece Jagpal-Mohan have triumphed for the third time in two years at The North Film Festival in Barcelona.

The duo secured two major awards this month, with Reece winning the Best Actor in a Short Film award for his lead role in The Wheel Gone Kid trilogy.

The pair also picked up the Best Web Series award, a category they have now won three times in the past two years.

Rita said: “For us to get a hat-trick of wins in Europe against such tough competition is amazing, but even more special is seeing Reece win the best actor award.”

The Dudley duo first starred in their original Wheel Gone Kid film when Reece was just six years old.

Since then, their success has seen them travel internationally, including trips to Hollywood and New York to collect awards at film festivals around the world.

Their award-winning trilogy also features a celebrity appearance from legendary football manager Neil Warnock.

Rita added: “Neil was brilliant to work with and inspired us to carry on with our dreams.”

The family’s film journey looks set to continue, with a leading European producer expressing interest in marketing their latest trilogy at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
