A NEW landlord has taken over at a Black Country pub - with plans to make it a community drinking spot.

Kieran Bustin is the new landlord at The Britannia on High Street, Wollaston.

It is the first time running a pub for the 47-year-old who has been involved in non-league football for 30 years.

The busy father of four grown up children is assistant manager of Bilston Town FC.

He also runs Sunday side Wollaston United, which plays on the recreational ground opposite the pub.

Kieran also runs a groundwork business, but decided to take a foray into the pub world after suffering an injury last year and thinking of the future.

He said: "I've got plans to get it back to a community-based pub, but keeping it sports related.

"Until the business picks up I am doing groundwork on the mornings.

"I'm really excited about the pub's future and welcoming the community."

The pub is owned by Stonegate Group.

Originally formed in 2010 with 333 pubs, Stonegate Group is now the largest pub company in the UK.
