The Lemonheads to bring European tour to Birmingham

Led by frontman Evan Dando, the group will perform at the O2 Institute on October 10 as part of an expanded tour supporting their first album of original material in nearly 20 years.

The tour, which now features 17 UK dates, follows the 2025 release of Love Chant, a fresh return to form described as a bold and melodic reaffirmation of the band’s signature sound.

Dando said: "I had to take a break to reset, but I’m now ready and looking forward to a great tour.

"Touring is a huge part of my existence, and playing in the UK makes me extra happy.

"You’ve always made me feel so welcome, so I can’t wait to reconnect with you guys.

"And we have one of my favourite musicians Willy Mason opening for us throughout the tour, so come early and often.

"See you all at the shows."

Formed in Boston in 1986, The Lemonheads rose to fame in the 1990s with albums including It’s a Shame About Ray and Come On Feel The Lemonheads.

The new album, Love Chant, marks a return to original material.

Featuring guest guitarists J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr and Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond.

American singer-songwriter Willy Mason will join the tour as special guest.

Known for his blend of folk and indie rock, Mason said: "We’re tuning up our resonances to hit the road with The Lemonheads in our most fertile form.

"We’re on a mission to move molecules and make them boogie.

"Can’t wait, it’s gonna be a hoot."

The Birmingham date forms part of a UK run that includes stops in Stroud, Bristol, Manchester, London, Glasgow, and Newcastle.

The band’s last album before Love Chant was Varshons 2 in 2019, a mix of covers that included tracks by The Eagles and Nick Cave.
