MOTORISTS faced delays after a lorry collided with a metro bridge in the Black Country.

The collision happened on the A4098 Great Bridge Road in Tipton this morning (Friday, June 26) and forced the closure of the road as the lorry, which had 'tilted' due to the crash, was recovered.

The incident also led to the suspension of tram services between Bilston and Wednesbury Parkway on the West Midlands Metro network.

The road was reopened to traffic at around 12.15pm.

West Midlands Roads said: "The A4098 Great Bridge Road has been reopened to traffic following the recovery of the lorry that collided with the bridge."
