THE Mayor of Sandwell opened Newbury Manor Care Home’s annual summer fete, which raised around £500 for residents’ activities and welcomed more than 100 guests.
Councillor Margaret Sutton cut a ribbon to officially open the event at the Oldbury care home, before residents, families, friends, staff, volunteers and members of the community enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment, stalls and activities.
Money raised will go towards the home’s residents’ fund, supporting future outings, events and experiences for people living at Newbury Manor.
Cllr Sutton thanked the volunteers, performers, stallholders and sponsors who helped make the fete possible.
She said: "On behalf of everyone involved, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has come along to support this event.
"To all the volunteers, stallholders, performers, and sponsors, thank you for giving your time, energy, and generosity.
"It is truly appreciated."
The Mayor also spoke about her personal connection to the home, where a close friend had previously received care.
She said: "I have had personal experience of this care home, as a very dear friend of mine was cared for here.
"I cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness, care and compassion they showed to her, as well as to me and her family.
"We are truly grateful for everything you did."
The event gave residents the chance to spend time with relatives and friends while welcoming visitors from the wider community into the home.
H’s Floral Arrangements and Bouquets donated flowers for the occasion.
Kam Kaur, Home Manager at Newbury Manor Care Home, said: "Newbury Manor Care Home extends its thanks to everyone who attended and supported the event, helping to make it a memorable day for residents while raising valuable funds for future activities."
The home, on Newbury Lane in Oldbury, provides care and support for people across Sandwell.
Its summer fete was held on Saturday, August 1.
