There are reports of huge tailbacks on a road in Coseley with delays of up to half an hour.
Temporary traffic lights are in place on Birmingham New Road near Ivy House Lane with delays continuing through Dudley.
It appears the traffic lights at the junction with Ivy House Lane are not working with an eyewitness saying they were stuck in the traffic for between 20 and 25 minutes.
The driver said: "It was a nightmare. I was stuck for about 20 or 25 minutes and the traffic carried on all the way through Dudley.
"I was worried I'd be late for work."
Drivers are advised of the long delays and should plan ahead of any journeys.
