THE owner of a popular Wordsley cake shed operating on an honesty policy is "disheartened" after it reported its first theft.
The Cake Haven is run by baker Georgia Harris and sells an array of cakes, brownies and cookies - with it having gone down a storm with customers since opening.
Based at The Haven on Barnett Street customers can pay by leaving cash in an honesty box or by card.
But recently Georgia, who has also run celebration cake business Gorgeous Cakes for 12 years, said that four cakes were taken without payment.
Married mum-of-two Georgia said: "We were really sad to report that we experienced our first theft.
"We love trusting our customers, but we want to gently remind everyone that the shed is monitored.
"We really don't want to have to review footage or take things further, but we need to protect our small business. Our little shed relies entirely on honesty to keep going.
"We put a lot of hard work and love into baking these treats, and instances like this are really disheartening.
"Please support us honestly so we can keep serving up delicious treats for everyone."
Georgia said her mum has recently retired from the police force and the pair bought a horsebox which they take to events to sell cakes out of, with the remainder often going into the cake shed.
She said: "It's going really well since we started in February. The response has been great."
The Cake Haven is open on Fridays from 9.30 am till 9pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8.30am till 9pm or until stock runs out.
