Your chance to lead a landmark Grade II-listed pub in the heart of Stourbridge

Ready to take your hospitality career in a new direction? A landmark Stourbridge pub is looking for the right operator to lead it into its next chapter.

Wanted... an enthusiastic hospitality operator to lead one of Stourbridge’s most distinctive historic pubs.

The Mitre on Lower High Street occupies a prominent town centre position and is a striking example of 1930s Tudor Revival pub architecture, complete with original features that have helped earn the building Grade II-listed status.

Now, with a full refurbishment planned, Star Pubs is looking for someone to lead the Mitre as a welcoming community pub with great drinks, entertainment and events at its heart.

Built between 1932 and 1934, the Mitre was designed by architects Scott and Clark of Wednesbury and retains an impressive collection of original features including detailed plasterwork, stained glass, carved timber panelling and bespoke fireplaces.

The planned refurbishment will refresh both the interior and exterior while retaining the identity and character of the listed building.

Inside there will be a main trading area and bar, snug, separate games and sports zone and function room, providing approximately 80 internal covers. A new gaming and entertainment zone will strengthen the activity-led offer, while the pub garden will provide space for around 10 customers outside.

External redecoration and new signage will also improve the Mitre’s visibility and kerb appeal on Lower High Street.

The Mitre is a wet-led pub and the future offer will centre on a quality and good-value drinks range alongside a strong calendar of entertainment and events.

Its dedicated function room opens up opportunities for everything from live entertainment and community activities to private events, while the separate games and sports area gives customers another reason to visit throughout the week.

Around 3,500 adults live within a 10-minute walk and many more travel into Stourbridge town centre. The pub also sits close to a college, creating an opportunity to attract a younger adult demographic alongside established local trade.

For the new operator, a key part of the role will be bringing these different elements together and creating a lively, welcoming pub that gives customers plenty of reasons to return.

For anyone relocating for the opportunity, private accommodation is included, with three double bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and bathroom.

The accommodation will also be refurbished as part of the planned works, providing a convenient home alongside the operator role.

The Mitre is available on our Management Agreement, Just Add Talent. It combines our tried-and-tested pub concept with industry-leading training and support for you and your team.

This is your opportunity to run a ready-made pub with no utilities, stock, rent or maintenance costs. We also supply ready-to-go till, stock ordering and health & safety systems. You can rest assured knowing that we do the detail, so you can Think Bigger.

The focus for the operator is on leading the team, delivering great service and creating an experience that keeps customers coming back.

The Mitre would suit someone with plenty of energy, a strong feel for hospitality and the confidence to lead the pub through its relaunch.

They’ll need to be comfortable managing a team, delivering high retail standards and creating the kind of warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps customers coming back.

A big part of the role will be building a strong year-round programme of entertainment and events, making full use of the function space, games area and central Stourbridge location.

Local knowledge would be a real advantage, along with the ability to connect with the surrounding community and establish the Mitre as a lively, well-run pub for neighbours, friends and families.

If that sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for, Star Pubs would love to hear what you could bring to the Mitre.
