Crowds gathered across Dudley borough to honour the sacrifices of servicemen and women.

Thousands joined Remembrance Sunday events on November 8, including a parade and service at the cenotaph.

The parade began on Vicar Street and followed High Street, Stone Street, Priory Street and Priory Road before the service at the cenotaph.

The event concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the cenotaph.

Councillor Pete Lowe, Mayor of Dudley, said: "As Mayor of Dudley, I was honoured to represent our borough at today’s Remembrance Sunday event.

"Dudley has a strong and proud community, and it was good to see so many people turn out to pay their respects and thanks to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.

"I would once again like to extend my personal gratitude to anyone who has served or continues to serve in our armed forces."

The borough will also mark Armistice Day on Wednesday (November 11), with a service at the First World War Clock Tower Memorial on Priory Street.

Veterans, councillors, council staff and members of the public will gather at 10.55am for wreath-laying and a two-minute silence.

Priory Street will be closed during the service, with signed diversions in place.

A display of hand-crafted poppies made by the Dudley Remembers Group is currently on show at Dudley Council House as part of the commemorations.

Residents can also place a poppy in the Cross of Remembrance in Dudley Market Place.
